Rendering the meaning of Russian delimitative verbs in English (based on V. V. Nabokov's translations)

This paper investigates the ways of rendering in English the aspectual meaning of Russian delimitative verbs (posidet’, poguliat’) employing Nabokov’s autotranslations. The aspectual meaning of delimitatives can be conveyed or not with approximately the same frequency in English. It is not conveyed by the Past Simple forms, but can be expressed by lexical quantifiers (for a while, for a moment, a little, a bit of, a little of).
