Translation of the commentary on the Discourse on Sobriety by St. Hesychius of Jerusalem made by Emilianus of Simonopetra

The author presents the first Russian translation of the first pages of the commentary on the Discourse on Sobriety by St. Hesychius of Jerusalem by the well-known modern Athonite ascetic, Emilianus of Simonopetra. The ascetical treatises of St. Hesychius have always been treasured by Orthodox monks, and hence are included in the Philocalia compiled by St. Nicodemus the Hagiorite. The interpretation of elder Emilianus will be a valuable spiritual treasure for the modern Christian desiring to correctly understand the voice of the ancient holy fathers and to correctly guide his own spiritual journey toward God.
