Translator and his role in modern Russian criminal proceedings

The presented publication examines the institute of the translator in the period of its formation, development and at the present stage. The place and role of an interpreter in Russian criminal proceedings are considered, as well as some problematic issues related to the activities of an interpreter and ways to solve them. The main requirements and competencies for the professional activity of a translator are outlined. Some problems of sign language translation and Braille translation have been investigated. The question of the possible use of artificial intelligence as a translator is outlined. The purpose of the study is to consider the place and role of an interpreter in modern Russian criminal proceedings, as well as problematic issues related to this institution and to outline ways to solve these problems. The results of the study. The article prepared by the authors emphasizes the relevance and importance of further research of the Institute of translators. It is noted that, despite the rather long period of operation of the institute under study, further research is required in order to find ways to solve the existing issues. The conclusions and suggestions formulated based on the results of the study can be applied both in scientific and practical activities.
