Periphrasis in the modern newspaper headline

The article deals with the periphrasis in the newspaper headlines of the military publication “Red Star”. There is suggested the classification of the periphrastic expressions of the objects of paraphrasing, there are given the results of the experimental questionnaire aimed at the recognition of the periphrases by the cadets of the military university. The authors conclude about the important role of the periphrastic units during the formation of the bright headlines, attracting the readers’ attention.
