Pedagogy in the system of training a modern doctor acquires special significance, which goes far beyond the traditional concept of teaching. In the context of modern medicine, a doctor becomes not only a clinician, but also a teacher, mentor and educator. Mastering pedagogical competencies is an integral part of the professional development of a specialist doctor in various areas of his activity. The article discusses the features of teaching the “Pedagogy” course for residents. The characteristics of each topic of the discipline are given. The role of the “Ped-agogy” discipline in the system of professional training of residents is shown. An analysis of the diagnostics of the formation of professional and pedagogical competencies of residents upon completion of studying this subject is presented. It was found that the average assessment of the formation of competencies among residents of 2023 and 2024 is at the “sufficient” and “average” levels, for individual competencies there are both “critical” and “stand-ard” indicators. Based on the obtained results, conclusions were made that, given the established level, a resident physician needs to work on improving underdeveloped components of his professional activity and individual com-petencies, and further professional and pedagogical development is needed as well.
