The Potential of Mass Media in the Formation of Humane Attitudes Towards People with Mental Disorders

The article is devoted to the socio-psychological analysis of the influence of mass media on the formation of public opinion about people with mental disorders and disabilities. Based on the theoretical analysis, the authors show that the media can both stigmatize and promote humane treatment of such groups of the population. The discussion focuses on the issue of professional and ethical media coverage of the problems of people with a wide range of disabilities, with an emphasis on the importance of humanization and the formation of a tolerant attitude towards them.
