Replay in the poetics of the E. Pund's poem "The cantos"

Бесплатный доступ

The article is devoted to the consideration of replay as one of the literary devices in Ezra Pound's poem "The Cantos", adopted by the author from one of the great predecessors - Homer. The greatest attention is paid to the analysis of Canto XVII and XXXIX, united by a character mentioned in the texts - a certain «brother of Circe»: intertextual connections are traced («Odyssey», «Argonautica»), and a possible interpretation of Pound's myth creation is also substantiated. It is concluded that, along with the traditional for the myth semantics of cyclic repetition, the specifics of using replay in these parts of the poem is the task of giving authenticity to the character's story.
