Practice-oriented training in the teaching the discipline "Life safety" of a technical university: based on work experience

The paper deals with the problem of practice-oriented education in higher education and highlights the modern approaches of various authors in this direction. The experience of teaching the discipline «Life Safety» in a technical university is analyzed. The paper presents the features of the organization of the educational process of the discipline, where there are elements of not only fundamental general education, but also professional and applied components. The examples of developed practice-oriented tasks for students, including the formation of knowledge, skills and abilities related to the professional activity of the training direction being mastered, are given. The results of a survey of students of the 4th year of a technical university, conducted in 2019 at the end of the study of the discipline, are offered. The test questions, developed by the authors of the study, help to guide the teacher through the level of the students’ necessary competencies formation, contributing to the possibility of making the right decisions in the process of production activities of the organization.
