The current political situation is characterized by extreme instability and unpredictability. For this reason, law enforcement agencies bear not only special responsibilities but also certain expectations of all participants in the political processes taking place In Russia. Therefore, the issue of training personnel to fulfi ll this mission is quite pressing in the academic community. The authors of the article focus on practice-oriented teaching methods at higher education institutions of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The research’s novelty lies in the fact that for the fi rst time, teaching methods at the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs are being examined from the perspective of the current unstable situation. This leaves a signifi cant imprint on the learning process. The authors focus specifi cally on practice-oriented activities, naturally raising the question of the ability of practitioners themselves to conduct such training. The article presents not only the theoretical aspects of the study but also practical confi rmation of the chosen training approach. For example, the authors’ arguments are supported by the results of a sociological survey among future specialists in the chosen fi eld. Practice-oriented learning has signifi cantly transformed today and necessarily includes the case method. The article also provides a specifi c example of the use of case studies in teaching, which opens up broad prospects for educators pursuing this approach. Firstly, this provides an opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the chosen training approach as a successful foundation for developing a specialist capable of acting effectively in unstable situations requiring deep emotional and intellectual immersion. Secondly, the teacher is provided with real-life cases with a step-by-step mechanism for resolving problematic situations.
