Professional competence is the degree of efficiency with which a person performs certain functions. The composition of the professional competence of a translator can be conditionally represented as follows: language competence - knowledge of the structures of languages and the ability to use them; communicative competence - the use of background knowledge to clarify the meaning; text-forming competence - the ability to see the vertical, horizontal and deep structure of the text; personal competence - character traits; technical competence - the ability to correctly arrange the results of the translation. Comparative analysis is the best tool for developing all the components of the professional competence of a translator. The proposed article provides a pre-translation analysis of the text of the report on migration. Under the auspices of the International Organization for Migration, which is the leading intergovernmental agency in the field of migration, Jacqueline Bha Bha and Guy Abel published Chapter 8 LES ENFANTS ET LA MIGRATION DANGEREUSE. Annually, reports of this type are published on the website of the Organization itself, which provide statistics, information, and important aspects in the field of migration.
