This article examines the perceptions of modern students regarding the prestige of their future profession in the context of labor market transformation and changes in the system of social values. The study aims to identify the factors influencing students’ perceptions of professional prestige, as well as to determine the role of economic, status-related, and value orientations in professional self-determination. It employs methods of sociological analysis, questionnaire surveys, quantitative processing of empirical data, and comparative theoretical analysis of scientific concepts of prestige and status. The main results of the study include the identification of the dominance of economic factors in the students’ professional motivation, confirmation of the importance of high income as a key criterion for prestige, and the establishment of a high degree of professional identification among students. The findings can be used in research on the socialization of the new generation, in the development of educational and youth policy, and in the planning of career guidance activities in higher education institutions.
