Problem of translating Russian legal conceptual terms related to a person's mental health

The paper analyzes correctness and exactness of conventional Russian-English translation equivalents of legal terms denoting a person’s mental health. In particular, it focuses on congruence/non-congruence between Russian nedeesposobnost and a number of associated terms as well as their English translation equivalents. The undertaken semantic and componential analysis highlights essential differences between the legal concepts in question and suggests appropriate translation equivalents.
