The paper deals with the problems of diagnosis and development of the creative potential of a person in the learning process at educational institutions. The urgency of the problem is connected with the need to correct disproportionality in the education system, including professional education, towards the development of students’ general creativity and creative abilities. Methods of diagnostics and development of the creative potential of a person are analyzed; the main views on formation of a creative personality are presented. Substantial and stylistic individual characteristics of a personality with creative potential are highlighted. The methods and techniques that are most effective for diagnosing the creative potential of a person are revealed. The authors of the paper determine the factors and mechanisms of setting a pedagogical task, as well as the conditions that allow overcoming the problems of the developing students’ creative potential in higher and secondary vocational educational institutions.
