The problems of the competence approach implementation in foreign language teaching of technical university students

The article analyses the key issues associated with the implementation of the competence approach in the foreign language classes in a technical higher school. The author argues that the implementation of this approach is hampered by the underdevelopment of the theoretical and methodological framework and the lack of clear criteria of monitoring and evaluation of learning outcomes.
