Contemporary issues neglected in foreign language teaching at the university

Some basic points functioning under crosscultural communication teaching and influencing the students motivation increase are considered in the article. The attempt to analyse the difference of the values and the educational paradigms of the two civilizations: Russian and Anglo-Saxon is presented in the format of the two tables. The significance of the teacher’s philosophy of life and the very necessity of arranging the dialogues with the students on the problems of present life realia is emphasized. In this period, when the question of what modern education should be is quite often discussed in the media and the educational environment, the problem of its content is emphasized, but at the same time the questions associated with it are omitted related to what kind of person should be the “product” of this education ... The culture-forming function of foreign languages should come to the fore, including axiological competencies along with anthropocentric and ontological characteristics of the language culture, and teaching students from the very first steps should be built as a dialogue of cultures - national and foreign.
