Building designing of the historical environment in given architectural proportions

The article addresses the principles of designing "in given architectural proportions" - the main idea behind building historical environment. This rule allowed designers “to combine” all city constructions with the person and the surrounding area in a balanced manner. Conclusion. It is possible to consider further principles of designing architectural objects in any set proportions, but the following regularities are obvious: 1) the higher the object, the smaller the area of its actual influence. It explains the arrangement of vertical dominants on squares, where human transit streams meet: taking not enough place, such buildings are not a "psychological" obstacle; 2) the more horizontal lines there are in the objects, the more "powerful" front of the building they form, smoothing the silhouette and making "rhythmic steps" less perceptible; 3) all proportions are equally important, there are no "bad" or "good" ones; their use reflects specific town-planning objectives. It is important to learn to project an object in "the given proportions" and to be able to change a proportion within one object - for obtaining a certain psychological effect as it was done by architects of the last centuries; 4) the size of any proportion is often set by the building relief itself; therefore designing should begin with the creation of the relief’s modular grid, which will specify the number of the perfect squares for the horizontal contours to fit.
