Due to changes in the tourism market, as well as due to the emergence of new trends, there is a demand for training personnel with certain qualifi cations. Among the main trends in modern tourism education are the following: digitalization and online learning, interdisciplinary approach, use of new technologies, fl exibility of educational programs, etc. The article examines project activities, the organization of which, its activity and effectiveness is also one of the trends in modern tourism education. The author of the article formulates trends characteristic of the tourism industry, emphasizing their infl uence on the training of personnel for the tourism and hospitality sector. Particular attention is paid to project activities: distinctive characteristics, skills developed, stages of work on the project. The article also presents current areas of projects that students of a tourism university can carry out both in classes, during the learning process, and by participating in various external events (competitions, Olympiads, conferences, etc.). In conclusion, a conclusion is formulated about the importance of project activities in the educational system at a tourism university, and the role of the mentor in its organization is outlined.
