Professionalism and professional qualifications of nuclear engineer

With the adoption of innovative development programs in the nuclear industry there is a demand in high-qualified staff. One of the tools to satisfy the needs is the corresponding training system of nuclear engineers. In this context, it is necessary to define the professionally important qualities of a nuclear engineer. On the basis of the ascertaining experiment an integrative characteristics of a nuclear engineer are formulated. One of the results described in the paper is the relevance of such concepts as “professionalism” and “professional qualification”. The presented characteristics of a nuclear engineer can serve as a basis for designing the process of attracting young people to receive education in the nuclear industry. These characteristics can also help to use to the full a future engineer potential in the professional sphere. The results do not cover the research of professionalism as a system as the structure of professionalism, as well as its origin and functions, are not studied.
