Vocational training of international students is a system process of developing a range of cultural, general professional and professional competence among the actors of education. This process should be arranged through the activity-based and person-centered approaches to its actors. The personal characteristics of students should be considered as well. International students are a special category of students whose cultural, social, and educational characteristics explain the need to develop and implement the system of instructional support for their vocational training in higher education institutions. Vocational training of international students is more effective in case of their successful social adaptation provided by universities. At the same time, social adaptation is regarded as a major mechanism for adapting international students to social and cultural, educational and professional environment of the host country. The social adaptation of international students is to be discussed as it results in the fact that students internalize the attitudes, rules, and requirements inherent in the educational system of an educational institution. Various aspects of students’ social adaptation, their impact on the academic process, the management of these factors are a part of the instructional support for students’ vocational training at universities. The comparison of these processes in different countries are of particular relevance to researchers, particularly in Russia and China being the largest exporters on the global education market.
