Professional retraining of university staff as instrument of development of personal resources

Changes in social and economic life of the society as well as educational reforms have highlighted the problems connected with the introduction of new educational standards, transition to a multi-level system and higher education institution management, in particular, the lack of professional psycho-pedagogical competencies of university staff. The paper is aimed to make a rationale for the professional retraining of university staff as a means of developing their personal professional resources. The analysis of authors’ first-hand experience in the implementation of additional professional programs was made. Personal and professional resources of university staff have been identified; educational retraining programs “Psychology of Professional Activities” and “Pedagogy of Higher Education”, “International Lecturer of Engineering Institute” have proved to be efficient in developing personal and professional resources of the university staff. The retraining system of the university staff in the sphere of psychology and pedagogy has been developed that provides high international competitiveness and proficiency of the university staff. A number of retraining programs: “Psychology of Professional Activity”, “Pedagogy of Higher Education” and “International Lecturer of Engineering Institute” have been developed. All the staff of the Kazan National Research Technological University and the Kazan Higher Military Command School have been retrained.
