Professional standards as a reflection of scientific and teaching activity of the Russian and foreign university lecturers

The study analyzes the patterns and environment of professional standards development for the Russian and foreign university lecturers. By identifying common features of standards and their role in improving the educational process, the paper shows the content and process differences between the Russian professional standard and its foreign analogues. The research reveals serious problems in methods, content and procedure of adopting the Russian Standard of Vocational Training, Vocational Education and Further Vocational Education Teacher. The authors note that the competence system in this standard is substituted by a list of generalized labor functions reflecting that it is constrained by the functional and activity-based approach. It is necessary to attract the scientific teachers and academic community with a view to developing a new edition of the above-mentioned standard.
