Practical training in the educational process of a university as an initial stage of professional activity

The work analyzes the conditions for organizing and conducting practical training as a mandatory part of the higher education program. It is indicated that practical training plays an important role in acquiring practical work skills, as well as in consolidating theoretical knowledge acquired at the university. The importance of practical training as the basis for the formation of key, basic and special competencies of a student is revealed. The purpose of the article is to show practical training as the most important component of the educational process in the implementation of future graduates in professional activities. The scientific novelty lies in the substantiation that practical training has a positive effect on the professional self-awareness of students and contributes to the formation of stable positive attitudes towards working in their profession. The author conducted a sociological survey among students at the Tyumen Industrial University. The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents note the importance of practice in the process of obtaining a profession at a university. Based on the results of the study, it was established that practical training is an opportunity to both gain work experience and test one’s professional interests and preferences. Due to practical training, a student can assess his capabilities and prospects in his chosen profession. In addition, according to the author, during the internship, students comprehended not only its problematic aspects and difficulties, but also resource opportunities for personal and professional development. The author believes that the correct approach and activity of the student during the internship will help to make the most of this opportunity and increase their chances of successful employment.
