Production and quality of raw cow's milk in the Vologda region

The article covers the problems of obtaining raw milk in the Vologda region. Due to natural and climatic conditions, being favorable for intensive dairy cattle breeding, dairy farming plays a leading role in the region's agricultural production structure. The milk produced on the region's farms rates the highest grades. The high quality of milk in the Vologda region farms correlates with an increase in dairy cattle productivity. This is the result of a longstanding systematic and comprehensive work carried out with the support of the region's executive authorities, managers and specialists of various establishments, such as agricultural enterprises, scientific organizations, higher and secondary vocational education institutions. The mutual efforts have resulted in improving the animal keeping and feeding conditions, equipping farms with modern milking machines as well as acculturating and hygiene of milk production.
