The development of vaccines can be considered as one of the most significant achievements of modern science in the field of medicine, which has significantly reduced the mortality rate of the population around the world. To date, clinical research in this area is still ongoing. Vaccines are increasingly being used not only in the fight against viral diseases, but also with oncological diseases. Some vaccines against cancer have already been registered and are actively used in many countries. However, there were many obstacles before cancer vaccines became widespread in general medical practice. Of course, much is still under development. However, a number of anti-cancer vaccines will soon be on the market thanks to promising clinical results. This literature review provides brief information about the history of the creation of anti-cancer vaccines, types, mechanisms of their action, as well as possible adverse events that occur against the background of their use.
