The contrast between the dialectal variations of the Spanish language and its transition in the translation of the novel "Heartbreak tango" by M. Puig

The article analyses the combination of two dialectal variations of the Spanish language, which are Classical Castilian Spanish and Argentinian, in the artistic system of the novel «Heartbreak Tango» by M. Puig, Argentinian post-modernist writer, and their translation into the Russian language. The research is relevant due to two reasons. The first is the ambiguity of the approach to the translation of dialectal differences of a text. The second is the lack of investigations based on the Spanish-Russian pair of languages. The article considers the role of dialectal variations in the novel art system and how they influence its perception and understanding. Main relevant variations as well as their translations are listed and analyzed. It is concluded that regional dialectal variations, unlike social ones, tend to be completely lost in the translation. This affects greatly the perception and understanding of the novel.
