Psychological characteristics of the competitive and со-opetitive behavior of the personality

The study analyzes the domestic and foreign literature on the problems of competition and co-opetition. Competition is considered in biology, sociology, philosophy, and psychology. The paper reveals that the term ‘competition’ has no unified definition. It is an interdisciplinary concept, the study of which is relevant to modern psychological science. The term ‘co-opetition’ was originally used in the field of economic sciences. The use of this term in the psychological science allows one to reassess the social relations. The author presents the main results of psychological research on the respondent’s social views on the concept of competition. The modified technique of incomplete sentences is applied. The results obtained are interpreted within different age and sex groups. The social and psychological research identifies six areas of modern society attitudes to competition. The term ‘co-opetition’ is applied to describe the social interpersonal relations.
