Psychological features of developing emotional intelligence in children with speech disorders

The article substantiates the importance of developing emotional intelligence in children with speech disorders, describes the difficulties in formation of its individual components. In this connection we have considered the models and definitions of emotional intelligence. It is emphasized that the development of emotional intelligence in children with speech disorders is difficult in view of the presence of a speech defect. That is why the psychocorrectional work should be implemented with allowances made for the individual peculiarities of a child with speech disorders. The article describes the results of a study of children's emotional intelligence and suggests measures and methods for its development through games and exercises, taking into account the existing relationship between emotional intelligence and children's speech competence.
