The article examines the psychological features of women with breast cancer who have undergone various types of surgical treatment - sectoral resection or mastectomy. During the study, a number of differences were found in terms of personality characteristics, control locus and coping strategies in the study groups. Additionally, it is observed that women who underwent sectoral resection demonstrated positive dynamics in certain aspects of quality of life and personality traits. In contrast, women who underwent mastectomies showed no statistically significant improvement in quality of life measures, but had a higher level of internality in the field of failure and family relationships, showed a tendency towards externalization in the field of achievement, a higher need for social support. The authors emphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach to the rehabilitation of women after radical breast cancer treatment, taking into account their psychological characteristics and type of surgery.
