Purpose: to work out a combination of the most efficient modalities of breast cancer diagnostics using evaluation of the informative value of X-ray and US-examination and the correlation between mRNA-expression of mammaglobin, X-ray and US-characters of local microcalcification. Patients and methods: 253 women with 290 nonpalpable breast lesions with microcalcifications were examined: breast cancer (n=124) and benign lesions (n=166). X-ray mammography, breast ultrasound, core-needle and vacuum assisted biopsies, pathomorphological examinations and real time polymerase chain reaction were performed. Results: the combination of X-ray mammography, US-examination and core biopsies gave 96.7% sensitivity, 100% specificity, 100% showed positive prognosis, 97,6% negative prognosis, 98,6% accuracy index. Vacuum-assisted aspiration biopsy under US or X-ray control was informative in all cases. Conclusion: The increased mRNA-expression of mammaglobin was typical of evident (apparent)fibrocystic disease. The increased mRNA-expression of GRB7, Her2/neu genes was detected in breast cancer with microcalcifications in comparison to the breast cancer without microcalcifications.
