The paper is concerned with the comparative study of indicators of self-actualization characteristics, tolerance to uncertainty and metacognitive skills in working young boys and girls. The sample comprised 116 young men and 84 young women aged 18 to 22 years. The overall number of people under study is 200 people working in the fields of law, creativity, engineering, architecture, management, IT, medicine, etc. Significant differences between the indicators of 17 personality attributes of working girls and boys were obtained. Working boys evaluate their self-actualization and cognitive qualities higher than girls, while working girls are more tolerant of uncertain situations and novelty, but are inferior to boys in making decisions amid incomplete information. Working boys are more capable than girls of identifying the essentials, actively pursuing their own goals, making quick choices, concentrating well and managing their time. The results obtained from the study are of practical relevance for employers to utilize the personal potential of employees in a more constructive way.
