A unique approach to the creation of new antitumor drugs based on the use of innovative technology for intracellular delivery of high-molecular compounds using internalizable peptide sequences (CPR, cell penetrating peptides, internalizable peptides) has been developed on the basis of the Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenoradiology (RSCRR) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Within the framework of this technology, a spectrum of chimeric peptide structures has been studied, including transport sequences and functional sequences inhibiting key targets of carcinogenesis (including cyclin kinases) as part of a single polypeptide chain. The results obtained showed the prospects of using this technology to produce antiproliferative drugs with a wide range of antitumor activity. Two products, potential anticancer drugs, have passed the stage of preclinical testing and pharmaceutical development.
