Communicative competence is one of the key skills in the education of primary schoolchildren. It is an integral part of successful personal development, the formation of which teachers are engaged in when implementing the Federal State Educational Standard for Primary General Education. High results in this area can be achieved by going beyond educational activities, and one of the effective ways to develop communicative competence is through intellectual games. The paper presents a program of intellectual games that was implemented in practice in grades 3-4 of a comprehensive school based on the results of an experimental diagnostic study, which previously identified the need to improve the level of formation of communication skills among students and specified the presence or absence of certain skills. The experience we have presented in assessing communicative competence and conducting an intellectual championship to enhance it can be widely replicated in schools.
