The article examines the theoretical basis for the development of creativity in students of the piano Department. Creativity is studied as a category of psycho-pedagogical knowledge, the methods of its development in pedagogical science and practice are analyzed, the features of performing activities as a kind of musical creativity are characterized, the concept of “creativity” in relation to professional activities of a pianist is concretized and its structure is substantiated.
