The article dwells on the problem of developing the cognitive interest of adolescents in music lessons. In today's world, video games and other digital content occupy a huge place in the lives of teenagers. Exploring the purposeful use of video game music as an understandable and accessible means to develop cognitive interest in music education, music of other styles and genres served as the aim of the present study. To determine the current state of cognitive interest of adolescents, its levels were considered, and learning activity in relation to both academic subjects and extracurricular activities was assessed. Particular emphasis is on the analysis of the expression of interest in video games, namely their musical accompaniment. The article reveals the features of video game music, the requirements for musical accompaniment for developers, examples of tasks using such musical accompaniment to develop cognitive interest. The presented approach has great potential for further study.
