The study presents an analysis of the development of psychological and pedagogical assistance to school age children with disabilities in Smolensk region in the period from 2013 to 2020. A list of educational organizations providing educational services to children with disabilities is provided, their material and technical equipment and the possibilities of organizing an accessible educational environment are analyzed. The author shows statistics on the number of disabled children in Smolensk receiving special assistance in educational institutions, at home, as well as in the Center for Distance Education. The study brings up some problematic issues in the organization of special assistance to disabled children in the Smolensk region. The author analyzes the data provided by the Administration of the city of Smolensk, the Department of Education and Youth Policy of the Administration of the city of Smolensk, as well as information presented on the official websites of educational organizations of the city.
