Development of a Number of Social Skills in Preschoolers With Autism Spectrum Disorders

The article refl ects the results of the ascertaining stage of the study of the features of the development of a number of social skills on the readiness for dental reception of preschool children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The ABBLS-R method (Denise Senick- Pirri, SLP-CCC) was used as a diagnostic tool. To assess the behavior of children with ASD at a dental appointment, a questionnaire for parents was used based on the Frankl rating scale of behavior. The sample consisted of preschool-aged children with ASD attending the Starry Rain NGO for Children’s Assistance, located in Chelyabinsk (n = 16). The results of the study showed that groups of children with ASD with diff erent levels of readiness for dental treatment diff ered in terms of such social skills as “social interaction” and “receptive speech”.
