The development of Russian studies in universities of northeast China in the early 21st century

In the context of in-depth partnership and cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation, there are positive trends in the development of Russian studies characterized by the growing level and scope of the study of the Russian language in China. However, in an open market economy, English remains the most popular language in the country. Due to the fact that English is a global language, it is easier for English-speaking Chinese youth to get a job. Nevertheless, in recent years, interest in the Russian language has gradually increased in the PRC, especially in its Northeast part which borders on the Russian Federation. The scientific relevance of the research is explained by the opportunity to determine the place and role of the Russian language in the overall process of learning foreign languages in Northeast China in the early 21st century.
