The development of student associations in the USSR and the Russian Federation in the second half of the 20th - early 21st centuries

In connection with the intensive development of the state youth policy and the increasing role of student associations in the educational work of educational institutions of higher education, the relevance of research on the generalization and systematization of the historical and pedagogical experience of the development of student associations is growing. This paper discusses the development of student associations in higher educational institutions (educational organizations of higher education) in the USSR and the Russian Federation in the second half of the 20th - early 21st centuries. The chronological boundaries of the study and the choice of the periodization criterion (basis) are substantiated, periodization is formulated, the characteristic features of the stages of the development of student associations are identified, and a conclusion is made about the nature of the development of student associations in the period under study. The generalization and systematization of the historical and pedagogical experience of the development of student associations in the USSR and the Russian Federation contained in the article can be used in the practice of organizing student self-government in modern higher educational institutions.
