Reception of Aristotle’s Poetics: influence by Aristotle on literature concepts of early modern time

Бесплатный доступ

The influence by the Aristotle’s Poetics at the beginning stage of the establishment of the literature theory in the Early Modern Europe was rather implicative: many theses by the first humanists dated back to Aristotle via the Arabian and Latin tradition. The reception of the Aristotle’s propositions over the course of several centuries of the formation of the literature theory took the form of the profound modification; it was therewith closely allied to the tasks and the concepts of the corresponding epoch. An opportunity of free interpretation was given by following the narrative methodology that was descriptive with normality in its appearance and that was a priori considered as the major methodological principle of Poetics. The normativity of the Poetics by Aristotle is based to a greater extent on the descriptive method than is the case with Horatio.
