Согласно результатам научных исследований, страны, занимающиеся образовательным туризмом и обеспечивающие различные формы международных программ обучения, были выделены как богатые и конкурирующие в туристическом секторе. В этом ключе его экономическое влияние достаточно привлекательно, поэтому различные регионы определили развитие международного образовательного туризма в качестве стратегической цели своей туристической и / или образовательной политики. Однако, с целью определения количественных характеристик и критериях экономического воздействия на образовательный туризм были предприняты попытки, которые использовали лишь ограниченные показатели. Недостаток данных и показателей оказался основным препятствием на пути измерения такого воздействия на экономику региона. Основной задачей данного исследования является расширение числа эффектов за счет анализа нематериальных показателей, связанных с измерением регионального воздействия международного образовательного туризма, в качестве дальнейшей подходящей методологической основы. В эмпирической части этого исследования эта типология будет проиллюстрирована результатами проведенного исследования ряда венгерских городов, и расширенным качественным анализом, проведенным с помощью полуструктурированных интервью с иностранными студентами из тех же учебных заведений. В ходе исследования были выявлены: экономическая значимость международного образовательного туризма, индикаторы прямых и косвенных затрат и выгод, а также применены дополнительные эффекты. Очевидно, что результаты могут быть использованы регионами в процессе определения важности развития международного образовательного туризма. Таким образом, это исследование внесет значительный вклад в относительно ограниченный объем литературы по развитию международного образовательного туризма в регионах.
