Craftsmanship in France as a Sociocultural Phenomenon: Evolution and Relationship with Language

The article examines French handicrafts as a socio-cultural phenomenon that allowed the formation and identification of such cultural values of the French as awareness of the importance of their cultural heritage, the value of manual labor, commitment to quality and good taste, and the desire for beauty. The surviving craft workshops and industries in France today are a national treasure and largely create the image of France as a country that values and preserves its traditions. Despite its complex historical paradigm, craftsmanship has left its mark on the modern life of the French and has become an element of a nationally specific picture of the world, reflected, among other things, in the language. The article examines French proverbs and sayings related to individual branches of handicrafts. Craftsmanship has enriched the French language, revealing its multifaceted connections with material and social reality.
