The article discusses the pathetic as one of the leading aesthetic categories in the chronotope of artistic culture of 1917-1920th. The content of the categories “pathos” and “pathetic” is revealed, the nature of their expression in art is revealed on the example of works representing the official ideology and new revolutionary mythology. Taking into account the need to designate a sociocultural context for the correct analysis of artistic culture and aesthetics, the authors pay attention to the analysis and interpretation of ideological documents devoted to new art created during the revolutionary period by creative associations and official bodies. Some of them, claiming to be of artistic value, are considered as independent literary texts. The expression of mass “pathetization” of the artistic space is the mythologeme of the complete dematerialization of the old world and the creation of a new one in its place, which, in turn, is connected with the binary nature of revolutionary mentality. The analysis of artistic and ideological program texts demonstrates the connection of the pathetic category with the idea of liberating a person and creating a new world.
