Retrospective analysis of surgical treatment of patients with GCT in the knee joint

Background. The main problem of non-radical surgery in patients with giant cell tumor (GCT) of bone is the tendency of the tumor to local recurrences. The factors determining the effectiveness of surgery are considered to be: the stage of the process, its localization, the presence of pathological fracture and volumetric soft tissue component of the tumor. The issues of assessing the real efficacy of adjuvant methods of tumor treatment and the amount of bone destruction allowing joint- preserving variant of surgical treatment remain relevant. The aim of the study was to substantiate the optimal tactics of surgical treatment of patients with GCT of the bones forming the knee joint based on the results of the study.
