The definitions of resonances of forces and velocities are given. It is shown that with a parallel connection of an inert body, an elastic element and a damper, a resonance of forces may occur in the system. When these elements are connected in series, a velocity resonance may occur. The classic mechanical resonance is a resonance of forces.
