The main criteria in the development of special treatment programs for the high grade gliomas are the patient's age and functional status. The recommended treatment includes total surgical removal of the tumor, followed by radiation therapy using of a single dose 2 Gr and total dose of 60 Gr, with simultaneous chemotherapy with Temozolomide, which is then taken after irradiation. The major prognostic factors such as histological conclusion, functional status (index Karnovsky) and age of the patient are used to individualize the program of special treatment. Other factors (adjuvant chemotherapy, single and total dose radiotherapy, extent of surgical removal, some of molecular genetic factors) also have prognostic significance for improving the efficacy of treatment for brain glioblastoma.
