The position is marked that risks have become a component characteristic of almost any area of society, including education. At the same time, the risk in general, including in relation to socialization, training and/ or education, is a priori determined by the integration of positive and negative potentials. It is argued that in the new life realities of temporary isolation, educational lockdown, there is an objective and subjective surge in the types, orientation, and volume of risks in socialization and education of the younger generation. The socialization of childhood is considered as a socio-psychological phenomenon, meaning terminology, main approaches, spheres, content (core). The ratio of its innovative (cyber socialization, virtual socialization) and traditional (family socialization) components is specified. Risks affecting the main spheres of socialization, such as communication, activity, self-determination are concretized at the level of theoretical and empirical research. In a comparative context, the results of the study of two groups of respondents, students and parents, belonging to the urban and rural types of settlement are presented. A hypothesis is put forward (as a prospect for further research) that the risks in socialization and the formation of the social and personal experience of children and students depend on the specifics of the micro-society, the type of settlement.
