This article conducts an analysis of two key tenor arias from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni - “Dalla sua pace” and “Il mio tesoro intanto” - and explores their application in vocal training. Through a detailed examination of the musical structure, emotional expressiveness, and technical demands of these arias, the article addresses the vocal challenges that may arise for novice singers during the study of these pieces. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of breath control, vocal stability, and expressiveness in mastering these arias. A significant aspect of this study is the incorporation of video recordings from master classes, which serve as illustrative material for analytical purposes. Strategies that may be beneficial for vocal training are presented, aimed at assisting students in overcoming the challenges they encounter while enhancing both the technical and artistic levels of their performance. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of adopting an individualized approach tailored to each learner’s unique needs. Recommendations for engaging with the arias are proposed, which may encompass exercises aimed at developing breathing techniques, as well as methodologies for improving expressiveness and emotional interpretation of the musical content. Discussing these aspects in the context of Mozart’s arias not only enriches the understanding of their musical language but also contributes to a deeper appreciation of opera as an art form in general.
