The role of grammar in the system of teaching Russian as a foreign language at the preparatory department of a military institute is analyzed. The efficiency of integrated communicative and grammar approach in the comparison of traditional structural methods of education, the necessity of implementation of such approach in the educational process and the creation of learning and teaching support kits for teaching the foreign military personnel at the preparatory department is substantiated.
