The article deals with the topical issues of assessment of students' learning. The author substantiates the necessity of taking into account psychological characteristics of school students of different age groups in the process of assessment. The problem of the lack of time for assessment during the 45-minute lesson is stated. It is concluded that it is important to carry out objective assessment on the basis of not only knowledge and skills developed in the classroom, but also proactivity and positive behaviour of students.
