The role of education in the sustainable development of society in Russia

The authors consider education as one of the target vectors of sustainable development of the Russian society. The peculiarities of state policy at the present stage, its goal-setting and the focus of choosing educational priorities for the sustainable development are the key factors determining the foundations of society. Accordingly, the development of educational institutions should not be considered as a secondary aspect. Currently, the responsibility for the sustainable development of society and ensuring its economic security is largely assigned by the state to the institute of education, while intensive interaction with local authorities, industrial enterprises and public organizations is a necessary condition. In this paper, the researchers consider the role of the institute of education at the global level - on the scale of the state, and at the local level - on the scale of the region. The article presents a list of services provided by the Institute of Education to the society, gives their detailed characteristics, determines the importance of the services provided for the development of the society and ensuring its sustainable development. The authors conclude that the institute of education acquires a new role - the role of ensuring social and economic security of the society, while it acts as a structural element of the whole set of relations engaging the sustainable development of the society.
